Chesterton Community College is located on the outskirts of central Cambridge and the existing school comprised of several buildings constructed at various times over the last 60 years. The scheme, designed by Atkins Architects, joined the existing buildings to a new two storey extension that provides improved circulation around the buildings. The new extension comprised of new core support areas i.e. reception, assembly hall, dining hall, kitchen, plus additional teaching spaces.

 

Major alteration works were required to the existing M&E services including the incoming gas utility supply, detailed surveys were carried out of all the existing M&E services. We worked closely with our Client (Ceetech Ltd) to design the M&E services to suit the multi phased construction programme and to keep the existing school operational.
